I would like to offer a heart-felt thank you to all of my supporters, to the voters and to the volunteers who made this election campaign a ride to remember. I enjoyed getting to know each and every one of you, I enjoyed my door-step conversations with constituents, the long days canvassing with volunteers and the hard work put forward by my campaign manager.
I wasn’t elected mayor but that doesn’t mean the campaign wasn’t successful. We have built relationships, raised awareness, brought attention to important issues and worked together to try to make this great city of Kingston, our city, a better place – a better, stronger community.
It is now up to the new council and the new Mayor-elect to move forward on the vision that we helped to shape in the previous council, that the residents have expressed in their words, their actions and, in some cases, their pleas. It is up to the Mayor-elect to be the mayor for all Kingstonians and to ensure that a broad-minded, fair approach is brought to City Hall.
I am proud to have had the opportunity to run for mayor of this city, I am proud to have been considered by the voters of this city for this great job. I may not have convinced you yet, but I am not done. I will not forget what you have told me, I will not forget what I have learned. The next four years will be about working for a stronger community, they will be about bringing the marginalized into the mainstream, they will be about increasing accountability and opening up the processes at City Hall.
I wish to express my warmest regards, again, to the residents of Kingston, my supporters, the voters and the volunteers. I can only express my thanks in so many words but know that the sentiment comes from the very depths of my heart and soul.
Please continue to watch this space in the coming weeks, months and years. This website is not going to fade into obscurity and nor am I.
